JUNK JOURNAL

As kids on wet school holidays we use to cut out magazine pictures we loved and glue them into another magazine resulting in a book of best pictures.     Im sad to say I don’t have any of them anymore …..But I remember using lots of images and probably the odd magazine from the old Australian Woman’s Weekly.Mum loved her WW.    Oh, during fine weather we were out on the beach.

During my teens I began keeping a traditional style art sketchbook and continue too even today.Whenever I travelled overseas I have kept a Diary and on returning home would include photos, ephemera from the trip.I also have kept what I call my illness Diary, an art/ word journal about the surgery ,treatment and recovery stages of my brushes with cancer.

So I guess you could say I have a been journaling for ever.

A few years back I began noticing the “new style ” journaling/diaries and what people were doing with them. And during winter 2015 I decided to go back to cutting pretty pictures out of magazines and glue them into a book. And so my junk journal was born, its an old readers digest gardening book with lovely thick pages and some great images in it .One of the things I love about this type of journaling is there are no rules, just play and fun.
